Central Idaho is a classic forested mountain biking destination, with a variety of terrain to keep your mind and body occupied. The McCall area has over 500 miles of public trails, 300+ lakes and four major rivers to enjoy. Trails range from family friendly double track to rides that will get the attention of your craziest of friends. This would-be mountain biking mecca is uncrowded and therefore many trails are remote and unsigned. This map details some of the local’s favorites and is useful for safe and successful journeys through the Central Idaho backcountry.
Local land management, IMBA and volunteers groups such as the Central Idaho Mountain Bike Association (CIMBA), create and maintain the trails in this area. The result is well designed, environmentally responsible trails, with terrain that varies from smooth roller coaster single track to challenging rock gardens of adrenaline. Hikers and equestrians will also find this map a helpful guide to incredible views, gorgeous lakes and immense solitude. Use the trail descriptions as a start, and refer to other local publications for additional information, if needed. Also included are some the favorite road rides in the area. The uncrowded nature of the area and its roadways will allow you to experience an incredible amount of wildlife and tranquility, whether you’re on the road or on the trails.
